Alaska's coastline, 6,640 miles, is longer than all the other states' coastlines combined. Although the climate in Alaska is primarily frigid, the climate of Anchorage and south central Alaska is mild by Alaskan standards due to the region's proximity to the seacoast, whereas Juneau experiences an oceanic climate, this climate generally features warm, but not hot summers and cool, but not cold winters, with a narrow annual temperature range. Juneau and the southeast Panhandle is also the only region in Alaska in which the average daytime high temperature is above freezing during the winter months.
