Rotonda is located in West Charlotte County, Florida. It is not a part of any municipality, and hence is exempt from taxation by a municipal Government. An organization called the Rotunda West Association is in charge of managing and controlling the use of property in this area. The Community is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors with help from over 100 volunteers on various committees.

Rotonda has an unusual formation, that of an incomplete wagon-wheel, something that can be clearly seen from an aerial view of the area. Alligators, bald eagles, great blue herons, egrets, and many other birds and animals are a part of the fauna in Rotonda. As it's a part of Florida, the weather in Rotunda is relatively mild, with a slight rise in mercury during the summers, but this too is simmered down by a pleasant sea breeze from the Gulf. The winters too are particularly mild, with the occasional layer of frost possibly just once or twice through the whole of winter.

Rotonda is very well connected by road to quite a few major airports in Florida like the Orlando International Airport, which is just 121 miles from Rotonda, and Central Florida Regional Airport, which is 145 miles from Rotonda, by road. Both these airports are well connected not only to all the major cities in the United States, but to a number of major countries and cities around the world.

It would be apt to call Rotonda a golfer's paradise, with a number of golf courses peppered around the area. Some offer the complete 18-hole professional experience like the Pinemoor West Golf Club and the Links Golf Course at the Rotonda Golf & Country Club, while others like the Pinemoor East Golf Club though not regulation size, yet impeccably maintained golf course, is a perfect offering for the eager beginner. Rotonda even has an offering for music lovers, with the Charlotte County Band playing each month from October to April.

There are also a number of night clubs and lounges like the Gator Club, a very beautiful and large two-story bar with live music downstairs and pool tables and cigars upstairs. Rotonda also houses restaurants with some really great food, like Daniel's Prime Steak and Seafood, Fishery Restaurant and a number of others. Rotonda not only gives you an opportunity to enjoy Golf to its fullest, but also offers you distractions which might prove just as engaging, making it a complete vacation experience.
