Williamsburg is the world's largest living museum where the show goes on 24 hours a day 365 days a year. This 301 acre attraction is a unique way to experience the history of the colonial era. Busch Gardens is also in this beautiful city of Williamsburg so when you're done experiencing the 18th century, you can take in some modern action and adventure on some of the best roller coasters in America. A holiday home along the Chesapeake Bay would be an amazing place for your Virginia holiday. There are unlimited ways to spend your days here like sunbathing on one of the beaches, deep sea fishing, boating, golfing or visiting the Cape Henry Lighthouse for some spectacular views of Chesapeake Bay.
Virginia also has a history of delicious wineries. Visiting Monticello, Jefferson's home, would be a fantastic way to take in some American history as well as visit the vineyard that Jefferson started back in the 17th century. Another historical encounter that would add to your Virginia vacation experience would be to see a civil war re-enactment. These are held at different times of the year, in different cities like Petersburg and Yorktown. You will be able to witness the way medicine was administered during the time period as well as visit exhibits and watch the re-enactors fire their muskets. No matter what time of year you take your Virginia vacation, there will always be an abundance of ways to have fun, take in some magnificent scenery and experience history and culture unique to the south.
